On Sunday, June 17th, 2001, a wildland fire broke out near Truckee, California. The fire quickly spread past Mount Rose and near Reno, Nevada. The smoke and ash spread as far East as Fallon. These are the pictures I took in the backyard on June 17th. Wildland fires are common in the summer here in the West, but we were in no danger from this one, as it was 75 miles away. |
